AMSC 698L Assignments, Spring 2002

(22 January version)

Each student will be given two written assignments worth 100 points each. Each assignment will be to articulate into a report your class notes from a set of lectures on a single body of topics.

How Each Homework Should Look. Your homework should be neat and legible. I recommend, but do not require, that they be prepared in LaTeX. Each assignment should be written in coherent, complete sentences. I expect to see correct grammar and spelling. (You should learn to use a spell-checker!) Equations referred to in the text should be displayed, labeled, and referred to by that label. (There should be no arrows running from the text to equations!) Each assignment should be stapled together. The cover page should include: your name, AMSC 698L, my name, a title, and your Honor Pledge.

What is the University of Maryland Honor Pledge? The Honor Pledge is a statement undergraduate and graduate students should be asked to write by hand and sign on examinations, papers, or other academic assignments not specifically exempted by the instructor. The Pledge reads:

I pledge on my honor that I have not given or received any unauthorized assistance on this assignment/examination.

The pledge was adopted by the University Senate on April 9, 2001, and approved by the President on May 10, 2001. Full implementation is effective throughout the University on the first day of the Spring 2002 semester. You can find out more about it at "http://www.inform.umd.edu/CampusInfo/Departments/JPO/AI/honorpledge/"
