I'm a fifth-year Ph.D. student at University of Maryland's (UMCP) College of Information Studies. I work with Dr. Eun Kyoung Choe in HCIL, where I study Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Ubiquitous Computing, and Health Informatics. I completed my master in Information Sciences & Technology at Penn State in 2017, and bachelor in Computer Science at Southeast University, China, in 2015.

Outside of school, I interned as a User Experience (UX) Researcher at Facebook (Enterprise People Engineering) in summer 2020, and Google (Android Tools & Platform) in summer 2019.

[Curriculum Vitae]

My Ph.D. research focuses on collecting high-quality and rich personal health data (e.g., exercise, food practices) through designing, building, and evaluating multimodal technologies (e.g., mobile apps, Alexa skills). I also explore how these data can be utilized in healthcare contexts. My work covers the entire spectrum of information flow: from collecting design requirements, to building research prototypes, to understanding how people use the systems in the real world. Throughout this process, I take mixed-method approaches to understand people's intentions and behaviors, and provide actionable insights to both researchers and practitioners.

When I'm not doing research, I create illustration, read, run, and travel around.
